Orthodox Bulgarians pay homage October 14 to the female saint Petka of Tarnovo, worshipped for her healing abilities.
Currently the remains of the saint are kept in Romania's town of Yash.
Traditional beliefs consider the day as a watershed between the summer and the autumn and mark the start of the harvesting season.
On October 14 people named after the saint - Petka, Petko, Paraskeva - celebrate their name day.
