The five Bulgarian nurses and Dr. Zdravko Georgiev, who were tried in Libya, visited Monday the National Assembly at the invitation of its Speaker Georgi Pirinksi.
Pirinski awarded the medics with memorial plaques and beautiful red roses.
The chairman of the Protection for the Bulgarian Medics in Libya Committee Rossen Markov presented Pirinski with the T-shirt he has been wearing at the rallies in support of the then jailed medical professionals.
Speaker Pirinski embraced the idea of establishing a fund for helping the nurses and the doctors, who returned home in the end of July.
Parliament's deputy-speakers, MPs and Bulgarian representatives at the EP have also attended the meeting.
It came just two days before the six Bulgarian medics and Palestinian doctor with Bulgarian citizenship Ashraf al-Hadjudj head for the European Parliament.
The visit is at the invitation of the EP's President Hans-Gert Poettering.
