Only one person was killed in a total of 16 heavy car crashes on Wednesday night in Bulgaria.

A total of 18 passengers were injured in the accidents, including seven whose condition is critical.

In capital Sofia, the number of traffic accidents during the same period was 126, including eight major car accidents and resulting on eight other heavily wounded people.

The number of car accidents in Sofia has risen in the past two weeks as the holiday season is over and people come back to the city, where constant traffic jams result in annoyed drivers.
