165 top state employees and politicians haven`t submitted till end-May declarations on their incomes and properties for the previous year to the Audit Office. Of them 119 are former MPs from the 38 National Assembly according to the AO data by June 14. The politicians and the top state officers who were obliged to submit their declarations for the past year amount to 710 in total. `We are ready to send forms, along with instructions how they are to be filled in to the new elected MPs as well as to the future government,` said Associated Professor Georgi Nikolov, head of the AO. The names of those who haven`t submitted declarations under the Public Register Act will be released from October 1 till November 1. In the fall, however, amendments to the act have to be made and the forms for the declarations to be alleviated. `The Public register with the property status data of the top statesmen gains recognition as a discipline instrument,` Nikolov said. `Moreover, it`s necessary the same measures to be considered for those of the citizens who don`t submit declarations,` the AO`s chairman specified. In certain EU countries persons who don`t submit declarations, or declare false data are being deprived of their mandates are suspended for a certain period and they lose their right the state to pay back their expenditures for the election campaign.
