Pop princess Britney Spears was ordered to submit to random drug and alcohol tests during her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, CNN reported.

The court imposed the measure after finding the star is engaged in "habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol."

Spears was allowed to keep joint custody over her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, with her ex-spouse Kevin Federline.

The ruling released on Tuesday provides also that the singer must spend eight hours a week working with a parenting coach, who will observe her interactions with the children.

The ex-couple have previously split custody equally, but Federline is now asking for the arrangements to be shifted to 70-30 in his favour.

Spears and Federline were married for two years before their divorce was finalized in July.
