Rescue workers discovered near the Fish lake in the Pirin Mountain a 65-year-old man exhausted and on the verge of freezing.

The man, identified as Nikolay Kolev, has been rushed to a hospital in Pirin resort of Bansko.

Temperatures dropped sharply at the beginning of September with highs standing at 21-26C and lows hitting 9C. The first week of the month brought rain showers in western and northern Bulgaria, accompanied by thunderstorms.

The Rescue Service issued a warning to climbers to restrain from hitting the highest parts of the mountains.
