A total of 17 Dutch tourists as well as their Bulgarian interpreter have suffered food poisoning during their holiday in Bulgaria's second largest city of Plovdiv.

A 61-year-old woman, who was worst affected, has been left in a local hospital for a course of treatment.

Health inspectors examined the restaurants, where the tourists are currently staying but have not found any harmful microorganisms in the food consumed by the group.

Experts are also to check the hotel in the resort of Bansko, previously attended by the Dutch.
