BBC has started shooting the second season of the Roman Mysteries series for children in the NU Boyana studios in Sofia.

BBC and Little Entertainment Groups chose Sofia to continue the story of the four children, living in the year 79 BC and spending their time in solving mysteries.

Thefts, murders, kidnappings, ghost ships and even political intrigues are just a small part of the mysteries the four children will have to solve in the second season.

NU Boyana film studios will host five of the episodes and the studios have already been made to look like the ancient Rome. The filming will end on October 16.

Four Bulgarian girls and the grandson of the famous Bulgarian actor Naum Shopov are part of the cast for the series. The surprise for the audience will be the appearance of Caroline Beyrle, the daughter of the US ambassador to Bulgaria John Beyrle.

Velislav Pavlov, who played together with John Cusak in War Inc., this time has taken the role of the head of the Roman guard.

"Your actors make the movie very authentic, and your stunt actors are really great" producer Jane Downsy said.

One fourth of the actors in the production are actually Bulgarians.

NU Image Bulgaria wrapped up the acquisition of Boyana Film Studios in January 2006. Bulgaria's Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) approved the sale of 95% of the studios in July the same year.
