At least three million people have left their homes because of the floods and the landslides in India, caused by the torrential monsoon rains that continue pouring over the country.

The number of the victims in the last two days reached 27.

Landslips and flash floods killed 13 more people overnight in Assam and Meghalaya and displaced around 750,000 people in the two adjoining states.

Fourteen people were swept away in swirling floods in India's second most populous state of Bihar that wreaked havoc as most rivers flooded, officials reported.

Twelve deaths occurred in worst-hit Bhagalpur district while two people were killed in Darbhanga and Sitamarhi districts.

The disasters took the lives of about 750 Indians since the beginning of the year, local media reported.
