Three people died Wednesday night after their homes have been destroyed by the wildfires that continue raging in southern Greece.

The massive flames enveloped at least eight separated villages near the town of Aegio burning dozens of houses.

Rescue helicopters have been drafted in to airlift stranded residents to safety.

The fires have been sparked by the major heatwave that is to stay in many countries across central and southeastern Europe and especially on the Balkans.
