France's President Nicolas Sarkozy and the EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner are to discuss the case of the five Libya-jailed Bulgarian nurses and the Palestinian doctor at a meeting in Paris on Thursday, a spokesman for the Elysee Palace announced.
The conversation between the two officials will be focused on the case, as it is a problem the EU and the French head of state are strongly engaged with, the announcement reads.
In the framework of her visit to Paris, the EU Commissioner Ferrero-Waldner will also confer with France's Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.
The official meetings come just days before President Sarkozy's travel to Libya.
A Libyan source said Wednesday that the France's head of state is expected to arrive in the country for a meeting with the leader Muammar Qaddafi on July 24.
