Two Suicide Attacks in Pakistan Claim at least 25 Dead

At least 11 security personnel died in a suicide attack in the north-western part of Pakistan, while another 14 were killed when a military convoy was attacked, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.

On Saturday, another 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed as a suicide bomber attacked a convoy, taking the death toll for the weekend to 49, while another 68 were wounded.

The hostilities follow the sacking of the Masjid mosque in capital Islamabad earlier this week, where more than 100 people died in the fighting between government troops and followers of a hard-line cleric.

Radical groups, who have found a haven in the mountainous areas bordering with Afghanistan in the north-west of the country, have called for retribution against the government, who seeks to stamp out the radicals' challenge to its power.
