The Head Representative of the European Commission in Bulgaria Michael Humphreys is to present Wednesday the progress report on the state of justice, corruption and organised crime in the country.
It is expected that the commission will criticize the two newcomers Bulgaria and Romania over the insufficient measures taken in the crime fight.
Latest unofficial reports say that the EU is unlikely to propose any safeguard clauses for the two newly accepted member states.
European Commission said earlier that the report would not consider a possible withholding of EU funds from either of the countries.
The report has been prepared by the Secretary General of the institution, Catherine Day and her team.
