Bulgaria's EU Affairs Minister Gergana Grancharova and the Chairman of Open Society Institute George Soros discussed the structural funds absorption at a meeting on Wednesday.

Bulgaria's accession to the Eurozone and the collaboration between the EU member countries in the energy sphere were also among the topics debated.

Minister Grancharova explained what the country's priorities are as far as the common European policies are concerned.

"Bulgaria needs the help of different experts in its first years as an EU full member and George Soros is a really important partner," the minister said.

For his part, Mr. Soros underlined that Bulgaria has good macroeconomic indexes, which increases its chances for the Eurozone accession.

"Bulgaria's EU membership gives the whole Balkan region new development opportunities," Soros said.

He has also introduced to Minister Grancharova some of the projects of Open Society Institute.
