Bulgaria's top athlete Stefka Kostadinova and her life partner Nikolay Popvassilev married Friday evening before the register after 9-year-long relationship.

The ceremony was held in the renewed open theatre in Elenite resort at the Black Sea. The happy couple was pronounced man and wife by the Sliven Mayor Yordan Lechkov.

The grand fiesta, which gathered more then 500 guests, was held Saturday evening in the resort's Royal Club Victoria, SNA reporter found out.

The newlyweds rang the wedding bells under the sounds of Gypsy Kings' music.

The legendary group arrived in Bulgaria with a private airplane especially for the wedding. They presented the couple with a really one of a kind gift - an hour-and-a-half performance, which was the special evening's crГЁme de la crГЁme.

The Catalonians played at a wedding party for the first time since the beginning of their 23-year-long carrier as they turned out to be Stefka's fans starting nine years ago when they met her in Monte Carlo.

Except Gypsy Kings, who enchanted the guests with their exotic voices and guitar riffs, Bulgaria's pop-folk idols Ivana, Sofi Marinova and Azis have also to greeted the newlyweds with their greatest hits.

The couple performed typical Bulgarian wedding rituals to the sound of 20 bagpipes.

The bride, who is the reigning world record holder in the women's high jump for 20 years now, was dressed in a glamorous dress, which was a special gift to her from a famous Bulgarian designer.
