The US President George Bush arrived in Italy on Saturday at an official visit, which is part of his European trip.

The plane of the US head of state has landed at the international Roman airport Fiumicino in the morning.

Bush is going to meet Pope Benedict XVI, the Prime Minister Romano Prodi, and the opposition leader Silvio Berlusconi, who is a personal friend of the US president.

George Bush will also confer with representatives of the Roman Catholic community of Sant'Egidio for a discussion on HIV fighting and other problems related to the African countries.

The next stop of President Bush's tour will be Albania and then he is expected to arrive in Bulgaria in the late Sunday afternoon.
