Iran Ready to Give Answers for Its Nuclear Program to UN

World | June 2, 2007, Saturday // 00:00

Iran has vowed to end years of procrastinating debates and decided to give answers to the United Nations on its nuclear program.

The move is made in order to evade new UN Security Council sanctions because of past suspicious activities of the world body's nuclear monitoring agency investigating its atomic programme.

Still, giving answers for the nuclear program is not a promise from Iran to freeze its uranium enrichment activities. The offer was made by top Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani to EU foreign policy head Javier Solana.

Iran refuses to consider such a freeze, but the security council insists on it, and past meetings between the two men have made little progress on resolving the deadlock.
