Strike Cancels Flights to and from Sweden

World | May 25, 2007, Friday // 00:00

The unit of the Scandinavian Airlines System in Sweden announced the cancellation of hundreds of European and domestic flights after talks between unions and management broke down.

Three hundred flights were cancelled on Friday and another one hundred and fifty will be axed on Saturday, forcing 20,000 passengers to change plans.

SAS Sweden said the strike would cost some USD 3 M a day in lost ticket sales.

SAS, which also owns units in Denmark and Norway, said flights between those countries and other European destinations would not be affected.
