INGREDIENTS:
* 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1 egg
* 2 tablespoons melted butter
* 1 1/2 cups strawberries, sliced
* Crumb Topping:
* 1/2 cup flour
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1/4 cup butter
PREPARATION:
Sift together the 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, egg, and melted butter; beat 2 minutes. Spoon batter into a greased and floured 8-inch square baking pan. Top with sliced strawberries.Combine 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add chopped pecans or walnuts. Sprinkle crumb topping over the strawberries. Bake at 375В° for 30 to 35 minutes.
