Bulgaria will award Wednesday theatrical companies and actors with the most prestigious award in the country, the Askeer.
The ceremony will take place in the Theatre of the Bulgarian Army. The ceremony is always held in the eve of May 24, the day of the Bulgarian enlightenment and culture and the Cyrillic alphabet.
This year's award for lifetime achievement will go to the always shining, despite her age, actress Tatyana Lolova.
Last year's triumphant play "Don Juan" of director Alexander Morfov has seven nominees. Deyan Donkov, in the role of the legendary lover Don Juan is nominated for best male actor. To get the third Akeer in his career, Donkov will have to compete with Vlado Penev and the king of mono plays Marius Kurkinski.
The nominees for best actress are Yordanka Stefanova, Svetlana Yancheva and Paraskeva Dzhukelova.
Best director nominees include Nikolay Polyakov, Alexander Morfov and Yavor Gardev.
For the first time this year the organizers will hand the award for contribution to the Bulgarian and European theathre, which will go to Dimitar Gochev.
