The results of Bulgaria's MEP vote and the extremely low turnout gave a good lesson to most of the parties but above all to the socialists, President Georgi Parvanov said Tuesday.
"The European messages were very well understood by the voters but the debate was mainly focused on the home policy," the president explained.
He added that the people did not receive what they expected from the men in power, especially as far as the social standard was concerned.
"Despite all I think the ruling coalition is stable enough. It should aim not just at completing the mandate but at completing it with honour," Parvanov explained.
He ended his speech by saying that the present leaders should consider the challenges they will face in 2009 at the next elections.
