The leader of the ethnic Turkish party, whose top-notch showing stirred the biggest sensation in Bulgaria's MEP vote, was not shy of admitting this to be their night of glory.
"This is a night of glory for the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. Bringing together Christians and Muslims, Bulgarians, Turks and Romas on one ticket was a response to our party's need to develop in a new way," Dogan said.
He stressed several times that he is not ready to consider himself leader of the top political power in the country just because society still viewed his party as primarily ethnic.
As the press conference progressed, however, Ahmed Dogan admitted that he would not be "insulted to be the leader of Bulgaria's top political force."
Asked about the three-party coalition that was formed on their mandate, Dogan said he has no reason to question its stability or formula.
