The recently - hatched right - wing formation, informally led by Sofia mayor Boyko Borisov, surprisingly advanced ahead of the ruling Socialist party with 24% of the vote, final exit polls show.
The Socialist Party follows closely behind with 22.5% of the vote, Gallup agency said.
Another three parties made their way to the European Parliament - the ethnic Turkish party, their arch enemies the nationalist Attack and the centrist party of former king Simeon.
The big question mark remains over the showing of the right-wing party the Union of Democratic Forces, as it is unclear whether it will pass the 5.66% threshold and end up with one seat.
