The Bulgarians must vote because they are all citizens and people, EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva said after she went out of the polling station on the MEPs vote day.

If Bulgarians do not vote, this means a society, that waits to be told what will happen next, she added.

"This is a fateful year to Bulgaria. The first ever MEP elections, that we worked so hard for to see. I feel strongly tied to the results from them and I feel obliged to urge people to go and cast their ballot because this will mean that we knew why we wanted the EU membership and that we are ready to take advantage of it," Kuneva concluded.

She cast her ballot in polling section N 39 in Sofia.
