Bulgaria Steps Up Security on Election Day

Nearly 2,000 policemen have been deployed to provide the security of the MEP vote in the capital Sofia. Here voters will be able to cast the ballot at 297 polling booths.

From 10 pm on May 19 to 10 pm on May 20 the sale of alcohol throughout the country is banned.

Police warned that on the day of the elections and a day earlier, dedicated to contemplation, rallies, marches, meetings, canvassing and other events are forbidden.

A special unit for issuing certificates for people who have lost their IDs was opened so that all who want to cast their ballot for their preferred MEP candidate can do it.
