At least 13 people died after a bomb blast in a historic mosque in Hyderabad in southern India and the riots that followed.
The bomb was detonated at the end of the traditional Friday prayer, killing at least nine people and wounding dozens, some of them in serious condition.
"As soon as prayers ended, we were about to get up, there was a huge deafening blast sending bodies into the air," one witness was quoted as saying by the BBC.
The police said the bomb was homemade and that they found and defused another two bombs near the mosque afterwards.
The crowd of incensed protesters reportedly began throwing stones at the police, which opened fire, killing several more people.
Hyderabad is one of the biggest cities in the south of the country, with a big Moslem population and the Mecca Masjid mosque, built in the 17th century, was packed.
