Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviyski, Bulgaria, ranked five in the combined results of the two compulsory ice dancing programs at the world figure skating championships in Nagano, Japan, March 19. The Bulgarian couple have two factored points so far. The first place of the Russian duo Irina Lobacheva and Ilia Averbukh, who won silver medals at Salt Lake City, came as no surprise. It is very likely that the duo will win its first world cup and will become the twenty -fourth Russian figure skating couple with golden medals from World Championships since 1970. Following are the results of the top ten couples after the compulsory ice dancing programs.
