Bulgaria's Eurovison Entry Based on Old Folk Song

Bulgaria's Eurovision bid has been based on a very old folklore song, the state BNT channel reported.

The famous group of seven elderly folk singers Bistrishkite Babi, has been singing the Water song for decades and say its roots are lost somewhere way back in the past. Vocals Krema and Maya say they remember their mothers singing the song.

We call Water "the eternal song", and we are very proud that Elitsa Todorova and Stoyan Yankoulov have chosen it for their Eurovision bid, the singers say. We wish them all the best of luck, they have made a wonderful remix.

As a tradition Bistrishkite Babi don't change or modernize their songs and only sing very old Bulgarian songs the way they have been performed for decades.

Elitsa and Stundzhi, as the duo is known in Bulgaria, will open the Eurovision show in a matter of hours with their song, pointed as one of the ten favourites for moving to the final.
