The most modern laboratory for conservation and restoration of archaeological findings was opened Tuesday in Sofia.

The lab is equipped with unique appliances, bought with money granted by the Japanese government.

The ultra-modern lab is located in the building of Sofia's Archaeological museum. It will help researchers and archaeologists to work on the archaeological findings at a new, higher level.

In the process of conservation and restoration the objects undergo various checks and analyses - technology of making, condition, origin and other info about them that would remain hidden for scientists if they don't have the needed equipment.

The Japanese government donated USD 375 000 for the lab equipment. The most interesting thing is the digital microscope, which magnifying ability is 3000 times.
