Guitarist Gary Moore's planned concert in Sofia is postponed after the star was rushed to hospital on Monday with a reported lung infection, organisers Sofia Music Enterprises said on Tuesday.

Sofia Music Enterprises will announce the new date of the gig at a later time.

The free concert in Sofia's downtown Batenberg Square was scheduled to be part of the celebrations of Europe's Day on May 9.

This is the first year Bulgaria celebrates the occasion as a member of the European Union, which it joined in January.

The legendary Irish musician started his career in the mid 60s. Since then he has played with numerous bands and artists including Thin Lizzy, Colosseum II, Greg Lake and Skid Row, which was his first band. The star has a successful solo career as well.

Gary Moore now appears as a regular radio host of the show "Blues Power", where he plays many classic blues tracks, as well as some of his own singles.
