Socialite Paris Hilton, the heiress to the hotel empire, was jailed for 45 days by the court in Los Angeles for violating her probation over an earlier drinking-driving violation.
Hilton has been stopped while driving drunk twice since January, and also failed to enrol in an alcohol education program before the deadline imposed by the court.
She pleaded no contest for reckless driving after being arrested in Hollywood in September and was fined USD 1,500 and three years probation.
Hilton became famous for her hard partying, but gained worldwide notoriety when a sex tape hit the Internet. She has since released an album, starred in her own TV reality show and a horror movie.
