The European Parliament has urged the Commission "to review its policy tools vis-Г -vis Libya" given Tripoli's failure to ensure a fair trial for five Bulgarian nurses and one Palestinian doctor accused of intentionally infecting children with the AIDS virus.
The appeal was included in an amendment to the EU report on human rights protection in 2006 that the European Parliament approved with overwhelming majority on Thursday.
The amendment was put forward by the Bulgarian MEP Antonia Parvanova.
"The vote shows that we can successfully lobby in the European Parliament and use all tools to contribute for the faster release of the five Bulgarians," Parvanova commented.
