MORE BULGARIANS USE INTERNET, SURVEY SHOWS

The number of Internet users in Bulgaria has doubled for the period August 2001 – January 2002, data of an Alpha Research show. Internet users increased from 7.8 % to 14 %.

The share of active users, who surf the net several times a week is 8 %. 3 % are the users, surfing every day. 50% of the people aged between 18 and 30 and who live in the capital use Internet on a daily basis. The number of people using Internet is smaller outside of the capital and the big cities.

People over 30 years use less frequently Internet. People who are over 61 are practically isolated from Internet. Alpha Research noted that Internet became more popular in the villages too, but for now the percent (3 %) is still smaller.
