Fire on a Danish ship near the shores of Chile left one person dead late on Saturday, and another eight missing.

The body of the dead sailor has been recovered, though his identity could not be established, while the search for the eight missing crewmembers went on.

The remaining 116 sailors of the fish-processing ship Hercules are safe, the Guardian reported.

The ship is owned by Tron Fisheries, a company registered in the Faeroe Islands, a Danish territory.
