Bulgaria headed to the European Parliament in quite a strange way. Some of the people, who will represent the country in the most important institution, decided to promote themselves using odd methods, to put it mildly.

Part of the "attractions" and materials prepared especially for the MEP pre-election campaign are so challenging that they have even been put a ban on.

The canvassing video of one of the leading political formation was rejected by the National Television as it is with the special participation of rivals, called "national traitors" for the sake of the precious EP seats.

The "amazing" plot reaches its culmination when the following text appears on the screen, running as a thorn into voter's side: "Paris, Venice, London, The Vatican would not have been what they are today if Bulgaria had not stopped the invasion of the fezzes (i.e. the Turks). Let us stop them once again!"

It looks like a logical continuation of the attempts, repeatedly made by the party concerned, at provoking an ethnic conflict in the country. They have obviously forgot, however, that in Bulgaria people with different religious belongings have lived in peace for centuries. And I believe this is not going to change over an election night.

Such shameful acts vitiate Bulgaria's first steps toward the promising European future. In this case it is a pity that the authorities forbad using the garbage containers for the pre-election campaign's purposes, as the bins would be the most appropriate places for such materials.
