The European Parliament will not ease its pressure on Libya until the six Bulgarian medics are set free and return home.
The assurance was given by Socialist MEP Miguel Martinez, who paid a visit to the town of Plovdiv.
Asked to assess the campaign for nominating the medics for MEPs, Martinez said he relied on the common sense of the Bulgarian voters, who would not allow such a meaningless act.
"What matters is the election of MEPs, who have the will to protect human rights in this and other similar cases," said Martinez.
