The second MEP candidate in the list of Sofia Mayor's GERB party has retracted from the MEP ticket on Thursday.

The reason Radoslva Tochev gave for quitting is the accident when he run a man over in the weekend and his party circulated a letter of apology to the media.

Tochev was driving within the speed limit and had not consumed alcohol, GERB stated in their letter, expressing regret at the unfortunate incident. They claimed the 61-year-old victim, Iliycho Milanov, has crossed the road unexpectedly and Tochev had no time to react.

The incident took place shortly before nine on Friday on the e-79 highway, but police had troubles identifying the victim.
