Greece Woken up by Dozen of Earthquakes

Greece was rattled Tuesday morning by a dozen of moderate earthquakes, the largest with a magnitude of 5.4, but there were no reports of injuries or damage, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.

The first quake struck at 0027 GMT and had an epicentre 215 kilometres north-west of Athens in the region of Trihonida.

The residents in Agrinio, Mesologi and the western port city of Patras felt most strongly the earthquake.

A second, stronger quake followed at 0417 GMT and had a magnitude of 5.4.

Officials at the Athens Geodynamic Institute said there were dozens of aftershocks that followed in the region.
