Another 36 dead bodies have been found on the Solomon Islands, devastated after the Monday's powerful underwater earthquake and the tsunami.

Many more people are still missing. It is expected that the number of the victims will grow further.

Entire villages were destroyed after an 8.0-magnitude quake caused a tidal wave that hit towns in the country's Western Province.

Gary Gibson, who chairs the International Seismological Center executive committee, said the quake was the biggest to hit the Solomons since 1900.
