Famed Bulgarian actor Hristo Shopov has had the chance of walking into the sandals of Pontius Pilate twice in his career, both times in international productions.

Shopov, who is the son of renowned actor Naum Shopov, first portrayed Pilate in Mel Gibson's controversial movie The Passion of the Christ. He became the man who sent Jesus Christ to the cross once again in the Italian production L' Inchiesta. The movie that tells the story of a Roman tribune sent to Palestine to investigate the death and possible resurrection of Jesus from Nasareth came out in the states under the name "The Final Inquiry" and is distributed in England as "The Inquiry".

In this movie Shopov plays alongside Dolph Lundgren, Daniele Liotti and Monica Cruz, sister of Penelope Cruz.
