More than 80 artists have already registered themselves to take part in Bulgaria's international musical competition "Pancho Vladigerov".

Young pianists and violinists from Australia, China, Korea, the US, France and Russia have already submitted their application forms, Professor Mincho Minchev, chairman of the Pancho Vladigerov Foundation said at a Monday press conference.

The international competition will start on April 29 in Bulgaria's town of Shumen with a concert of the winners from last year's edition.

The jury will include world famous artists and musical scientist such as Professor Michail Voznesenski and Professor Eduard Gratch from Russia, Ivan Zhenati from the Czech Republic, Professor Popova-Zidron for Poland, Professor Li Min from China and Professor Sani Lee from Korea.

The competition includes three categories. The first round will help the jury to sift out the better artist from the crowd. In the second round the artist will have to demonstrate their abilities with a number of performances. Only six of the competitors will be let to enter the third round.

The first international "Pancho Vladigerov" competition for pianists was held in 1986. The next edition came 13 years later in 1999 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of composer Pancho Vladigerov's birth, when violinists were also allowed to take part.
