The date set for MEP elections in Bulgaria has upset hundreds of high-school students that are about to graduate this year.
Schools will have to be closed to play polling stations on May 19 and 20, and graduation ceremonies that have been planned for that date a year ago will now have to be postponed.
With an order not to serve alcohol on the night before elections, a lot of farewell balls will be spoiled, students moan. An advance for the reservation has already been paid, and even if students were to forget about the cash and choose another place, all the good restaurants in Sofia have long been booked for all the dates around.

Inspectors from the Education Ministry have stated that it's the students' fault because official graduation date is May 24 and no one should be celebrating before that.
Some schools have already decided not to hold graduation ceremonies, setting a precedent in their history.
