Bulgaria's GERB party, running second in the polls before the European Parliament elections, took a stand on Friday against Turkey's bid to be accepted into the EU.
Speaking to supporters at the opening of the party's headquarters in Sofia, GERB unofficial leader Boyko Borisov said that he was against Turkey's accession, unless Bulgaria's Black Sea neighbor met all accession criteria, mediapool.bg reported.
GERB becomes thus the second Bulgarian party to adopt a firm position on Turkey's EU bid, following the lead of center-right hardliners Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), the party of former PM Ivan Kostov.
Although GERB does not have any members in Bulgaria's legislature, since it was only officially set up last year, it is in line to win the second-most seats at the forthcoming vote for the European Parliament in May, according to pollsters.
