Former Beatle Paul McCartney will release his next album through a record label started up by international coffee chain Starbucks, the company said at its annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday.
McCartney becomes the first artist to sign with Hear Music, the joint label formed by Starbucks and the Concord Music Group.
Starbucks has used the Hear Music name since 1999 for compilations and co-releases sold in its chain of coffee shops.
The best known of these was Ray Charles' "Genius Loves Company," which won eight Grammy awards. Starbucks stores have in the past also featured releases by Bob Dylan, Alanis Morissette and Sergio Mendes.
