The biggest part of Bulgarians is totally unaware of the preferential voting for MEPs on May 20, a survey of Barometer info has showed.

It was carried out among 909 Bulgarians in the period March 17-19.

Bulgarians, who will vote on the MEP elections don't know how to mark their preferred candidate in the party's list.

Nearly 85% of the people don't know they can choose a preferred candidate in addition to a party list. Just 1.98% of the questioned persons said they are acquainted wit the option but are not sure how to mark it on the ballot.

The reason for this voting options "blackout" is the lack of explanatory campaign for the firs MEP elections, according to Nikolay Nikolov, coordinator of Barometer info.

The survey shows the Bulgarian Socialist party is likely to get the votes of 10.67% of the voters, Sofia Mayor's GERB party may gather 9.02%. They are followed by the ethnic Turkish party is expected to garner 5.17%, which is with 0.17% more compared to the expected votes for the National Movement Simeon II, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria and Union of the Democratic forces parties' votes taken together.
