Michael Humphreys, Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria handed Friday the prize of Bulgaria's Association of Regional Media for most dignified Bulgarian.
The honoured person was Doctor Lyubomir Spasov from Lozenets hospital, who performed unique liver transplantations.
"I think his work and the work of his team is a beacon for excellence and for meeting the needs of the citizens and patients in Bulgaria," Humphreys said.
Two more awards were bestowed at the sixth annual ceremony.
Economic Investment Bank, the telecom Globul and Naftex Petrol were awarded the companies with the most intense advertising policy.
A total of 30 professionals were declared the journalists of the year 2006. All the regional media have nominated one of their representatives.
"The role of Bulgaria's regional media is supremely important, as it has to ensure that knowledge and information is passed through to all fractures of society," Michael Humphreys announced.
The Social Policy Minister Emilia Maslarova sent all the participants congratulatory letters.
The ceremony's organizers surprised the guests with an interesting program. The hosts have called kukeri to chase away the evil spirits.
