Menzel, whose movie I Served the King of England reaped applause at the Berlinale film fest, served Golubovic the EUR 6,000 prize. His movie "The Trap is a family drama with elements of thriller - a story about a man who faces a dilemma - whether to kill and thus save his child or to give in and to watch his child die. "It is a rather rough, dark and intense family drama. To me this reflexion about the society we live in is very important," the director says of his movie.
Menzel was also honoured with the special lifetime achievement award of Sofia Municipality. He thanked his Bulgarian friends, who had helped him find such a wonderful actor for the leading role in his movie. Bulgarian Ivan Burnev impressed the critics with his role in I Served the King of England.
