Bulgaria's best archaeologists Georgi Kitov and Nikolay Ovcharov expressed their serious concerns about lacking of clear policy on popularising country's historical and cultural heritage at a Friday press conference.

The two archaeologists underlined that the neighbouring countries try to appropriate Bulgaria's cultural wealth.

"Romania assumed the right over the names of the tribes Gaiters and Dacians and the Greeks are going to declare the Thracians their ancestors," Kitov added.

Moreover, about 200 Bulgarian archaeologists get "miserable" payment and that accounts for the lack of young specialists, the scientists reminded.

"We are doomed to look like Don Quixote," Professor Kitov exclaimed.

The results from the Bulgarian Thracian exhibition, which was held in the period October 14 2006 to January 31 2007 in Paris, were also discussed at the press conference.

Professor OvcharРѕv announced that about 97,500 visitors have seen the unique exhibits.
