Bulgaria's Council of Ministers approved the priorities of the country's presidency of the Central European Initiative (CEI) for 2007 at a meeting on Thursday.

The priorities go in three main ways: perfection and strategic orientation of the CEI activities, cooperation in order to meet challenges that emerged after the fifth EU expansion and support of the European perspective of the EU member states.

The priorities also include organization and harmonization if the CEI priorities with other regional organizations.

During its presidency, Bulgaria is expected to host a meeting of the government leaders of the EU member states in November. In may the country will organize a meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs.

A Coordination Committee was founded at the Thursday seating. Its head will be Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Lyubomir Kyuchukov. The Committee will supervise and coordinate the country's activities during its presidency of the CEI. It will include one deputy minister from every Bulgarian ministry, as well as the chairpersons of the state tourism, youth and sport and informational technologies agencies.
