A rabid cat has sent a woman and four of her neighbours to the hospital in Bulgaria's town of Novi Iskar.

The raging pet bit owner Nedyalka Petkova on Saturday, and her husband quickly killed it. He took his sweet time bringing the corpse for testing, however and only took it to the health authorities two days later.

Tests showed that the cat did have the rabies and the town is now under high alert. People are worried that the cat may have infected children or any of the neighbours' pets it cam in contact with.

Authorities in the town have already stocked a large quantity of the anti-rabies vaccine, fearing more cases may come up.
